October #34 – Long Life
Long life comes from honoring your parents
Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God will give you. NLT
Deuteronomy 5:16 " 'Honor your father and mother, as the LORD your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God will give you. NLT
Ephesians 6:2 "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: v3 "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."
Obedience to the commands of the Lord brings long life to you and your family
Deuteronomy 4:40 If you obey all the laws and commands that I will give you today, all will be well with you and your children. Then you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you for all time." NLT
Deuteronomy 6:2 and so you and your children and grandchildren might fear the LORD your God as long as you live. If you obey all his laws and commands, you will enjoy a long life. NLT
Deuteronomy 11:8 "Therefore, be careful to obey every command I am giving you today, so you may have strength to go in and occupy the land you are about to enter. v9 If you obey, you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD swore to give to your ancestors and to you, their descendants — a land flowing with milk and honey! NLT
Deuteronomy 32:45 When Moses had finished reciting these words to Israel, v46 he added: "Take to heart all the words I have given you today. Pass them on as a command to your children so they will obey every word of this law. v47 These instructions are not mere words — they are your life! By obeying them you will enjoy a long life in the land you are crossing the Jordan River to occupy." NLT
Be sure to be honest in your dealings with others
Deuteronomy 25:15 Yes, use honest weights and measures, so that you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you. NLT
Solomon asked for wisdom to rule Israel wisely. This pleased the Lord and He gave Solomon long life
1 Kings 3:10 The Lord was pleased with Solomon's reply and was glad that he had asked for wisdom. v11 So God replied, "Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people and have not asked for a long life or riches for yourself or the death of your enemies — v12 I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding mind such as no one else has ever had or ever will have! v13 And I will also give you what you did not ask for — riches and honor! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life! v14 And if you follow me and obey my commands as your father, David, did, I will give you a long life NLT
Watch what you say, don’t lie, do good not evil, be at peace with others and live a long life
Psalm 34:12 Do any of you want to live a life that is long and good? v13 Then watch your tongue! Keep your lips from telling lies! v14 Turn away from evil and do good. Work hard at living in peace with others. NLT
Trust the Lord for your protection, declare that He does watch over you, live a long life
Psalm 91:16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."
Know and obey the Word and you will live a long, productive life
Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; v2 For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.
Proverbs 3:13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, v14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. v15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. v16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. v17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. v18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed. Be humble and reverence the Lord this leads to riches, honor and long life
Proverbs 22:4 True humility and fear of the LORD lead to riches, honor, and long life. NLT
Hate dishonesty and live a long life
Proverbs 28:16 he who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long life. NIV
