June 2017   #6 Scriptural Prayers For America & Our Leaders

We are to pray for our leaders regardless of their political affiliation
Exodus 22:28 "Do not blaspheme God or curse anyone who rules over you.

Declare that America loves the Lord and obeys Him.  As we do it will a testimony to the world that our God is the true God
Deuteronomy 28:10 Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you.

We pray for America because our prayers are the only thing that can change America.
I Samuel 12:23 Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.

When Christians, in a humble and repentant manner, seek the Lord’s help for America, God the Father will hear our prayers and heal our land
2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Thank the Lord that He can speak to the heart of an unbeliever to do good.
(King Cyrus chapter 1 and King Artaxerxes chapter 7)
Ezra 1:1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, v2 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the LORD God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah.

Ezra 7:27 Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem,

Thank the Lord that He is God and there is no other,  Declaring that He rules over the nations, especially America
Psalm 22:28 for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.

Pray and declare that America is a Christian nation!
Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Pray and declare that the people of America are upright and will dwell in our land.  We are righteous and America will do rightly
Proverbs 2:21 For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless will remain in it;  v22 But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.

Declare by faith that America is a righteous nation
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.

Thank the Lord that He can speak to the heart of leaders and direct their ways
Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.

Thank the Lord that He puts righteous people in authority, blessing America
Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.

Tell the Lord that you are one who will always stand in the gap, praying for America to endure
Ezekiel 22:30 So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it (allow it to be destroyed); but I found no one.

Though we are to pray for those in authority, if they violate God’s Word and support legislation that is not good for the nation, we pray that the Lord would remove them from office and raise up another who will follow Him.
Daniel 2:21 ….He removes kings and raises up kings…..

We are to obey those in authority.  If the laws are ungodly and hurtful to the people, we can and should pray and ask the Lord to change them.  Our attitude must always be a respectful one.
Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

We are to pray first for those in authority over us (regardless of our political affiliation) first.  Christian prayers are the only chance America or any nation has. Quiet and peace are the result of our prayers, enabling the gospel to be preached and people saved
I Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
v2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
v3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
v4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

We honor those in authority by praying for them, regardless of how we may feel about them
I Peter 2:17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
