Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 86

March 27;      Mark 8:25;       37/260(IV);        ‘Jesus Prayed Twice’

Mark 8:25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

Jesus was in Bethsaida and a blind man was brought to Him (verse 22).  Jesus took the man by the hand, led him out of town, spit on the man’s eyes and laid hands on the blind man.  Then the Lord asked the man if he saw anything?  In verse 24 the man responded to Jesus and said he saw men like trees walking.  In other words, he could see something, but it wasn’t clear.  Obviously this man had been able to see previously or he would not have known what trees or probably men looked like.  At this point, Jesus put His hands on the man’s eyes again and the man then could see everything clearly.  Very often people wonder if it is proper to lay hands on someone more than once.  This is the only reference in the gospels that Jesus did.  As Christians who know that healing is biblical, to me we must do everything we can to help someone.  Once was have prayed in faith for the healing of the person, we need not pray that prayer again.  We surely can lay hands on that person again and continue to thank the Lord that he or she is healed.  Praying for the same person over and over does more harm than good.  Every time a new prayer is prayed if the healing does not manifest, the prayer takes faith out of the person.  If we are born again and Spirit filled, we have the same power that the Lord Jesus ministered by while He was here on the earth.  We can and must have faith and that power is released into the person we are praying for when we pray.  That power is more than able to effect a healing and a cure.  Before we pray for the person we should tell them healing is theirs, the power of the Holy Spirit will go into them and they are to receive that power.  The Lord wants them well.
