March 19, 2018;      Matthew 28:19;       28/260(IV);        ‘Authority Restored’

 

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

 

When the Lord created Adam, He gave Adam authority over this earth.  Adam was told to guard or protect the garden.  There had to be an enemy and indeed there was.  Lucifer, an angel in heaven who rebelled against God the Father had been cast down to earth after his rebellion was crushed.  Now, known as satan, the desire of the devil is to get back at God by doing everything evil he could to us, God’s crowning creation.  The devil entered the garden and began conversing with Eve.  Eve, just like Adam had authority over the devil and could have and should have thrown him out of the garden.  She listened to satan challenge what God said (this is what he always does) and was deceived, and she ate from the tree that she was commanded not to eat from.  Adam was not deceived, he followed Eve and sinned.  The authority God gave to Adam and Eve was given by them to the devil.  Satan is now the god of this world and is responsible for the misery and pain we see around us.  The Lord is often blamed for the circumstances, but He is not to blame. Humanity was separated from God by the sin of Adam.  God’s love for us would not let us be forever separated from Him and therefore He sent Jesus to redeem us from sin and sickness.  After the crucifixion, the Lord Jesus’ spirit went to hell and paid our price, He took our punishment upon Himself.  When Jesus arose from the dead, He stripped the authority satan had away from him.  Our Lord then gave us back that authority so that we could once again rule and reign on the earth.  Know this truth, live this way, setting free those who do not know.
