Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 7

January 7;      Hebrews 13:15;       216/260(III);        ‘The Fruit of Our Lips’

Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

When we become born again, the love of God is deposited into our spirit by the Holy Spirit.  With God’s love, not only can we love others and treat them properly, but that love opens our spirit to love and worship the Lord in a manner that pleases and honors Him.  As New Testament believers, thank the Lord that we no longer offer the blood of animals as our sacrifice, we offer the sacrifice of praise.  Again, when we were born again, one of the fruits of the Spirit deposited into our spirit is joy.  We use the love and joy that He gives to praise Him.  Old Testament sin offerings were offered to get something from the Lord, namely our sins covered by the blood of the sacrifice.  The sacrifice of praise was an unconditional offering of a grateful heart.  We can and should offer the sacrifice of praise almost continually all day long.  Praise the Lord in the morning for another day of life.  Praise Him and ask Him to use you this day to help others and reach them for Jesus.  Thank Him for the food you eat and the health you enjoy.  If you are not feeling well, praise Him by faith, that the Word is true and He is the Lord who has healed you.  Praise Him for the work that you do and thank Him for giving you the strength and ability to do your job excellently.  Take a brief time to thank Him for every blessing that you experience during the day and praise Him for a wonderful night’s sleep as you ‘turn in.’ Keep the fruit of your lips busy with praise.
