Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 60
March 1; Matthew 10:8; 10/260(IV); ‘Future Foretaste’
Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Once Jesus rose from the dead, He sent the Holy Spirit to empower His church to continue His ministry. But even before His crucifixion and resurrection, the Lord Jesus, to give His disciples a foretaste of the future and to teach us another way to minister, ‘transferred’ His anointing onto them. How this must have thrilled them to be able to minister just like Jesus. I know it thrills me that the Lord would trust us, His church, to continue His ministry. I have seen the transfer of the anointing even at this time. Rev. Kenneth Hagin, the Founder of Rhema Bible Training Center, who ministered for 62 years, knew things about ministry that no one else did. He knew, when he was praying for the sick, that when he became physically tired (hundreds would come into the healing line), the anointing to heal would wane. What he would do, was call one of the young people from the Rhema Singers and Band who traveled with him and transfer the anointing to heal upon them and they would continue to pray for the sick. I am sure that the Lord Jesus was not tired when He transferred the anointing to His disciples, it was just another way He was teaching them about helping hurting people. We know that the anointing is the power of the Holy Spirit and it is ours when we become baptized in the Holy Spirit, with the initial evidence of speaking with other tongues. What a great blessing it is to lay our hands on people and know that they healing power of the Holy Spirit goes into them to effect a healing and a cure. This is for every believer. In a world that makes up lies about the supernatural, we have the real deal and help people who desperately need what we have.
