Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 57
February 26; Matthew 7:11; 7/260(IV); ‘Bad Doing Good’
Matthew 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
The word evil is not as bad as it sounds. It basically means we can be carnal people at times. Having said that, this verse should boost your faith. If natural humans, flawed as we may be, desire to give our children good gifts and this is normally the case for ‘normal’ parents, how much more does God the Father, who loves us as much as He loves Jesus (John 17:23), give good things to us when we ask. No one wants the best for you more than the Father in heaven. The Bible tells us in several verses that He loves to bless us. He wants you to get this deep into your spirit, so that when you do pray and ask Him for something, you will have faith that He will give it to you. I always loved the look on my son’s faces when we gave them something that they really wanted. I know that the Father has a big grin of His face when we, in faith, ask Him for something and He graciously gives it to us. No one will ever love us as much as God the Father. He proved His love when He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to redeem us from our sins and sicknesses. The Bible teaches that if He did not spare Jesus, but sent Him to pay our price, He will surely give us all things to enjoy (Romans 8:32). The Bible also teaches us that we cannot please the Lord without faith (Hebrews 11:6), so we must believe that He truly desires to bless us, His children. There are two things that we must be careful about, not asking for things in a greedy manner and making sure that what we ask the Father for is biblical. You can clearly see in the Word that the Father loves to bless us. Keep Him first in your life, always be grateful when He answers your prayers and absolutely know He loves to bless you.
