Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 55
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 55
February 24; Matthew 5:15; 5/260(IV); ‘Let Your Light Shine’
Matthew 5:15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
The Lord Jesus tells us in verse 14 that we are the light of the world. Like a city set on a hill. That city would have to put out a great amount of light. That is what we are to do once we become born again. We have something now of eternal importance to share with others. Our light shines by what we say and by the way we treat other people. This verse is so important. As a Christian, we have the most important news anyone will ever hear. The world mocks the things of the Lord, especially the Word of God. That is more the reason that we cannot hide the light Jesus lights us with. Until you begin to share the Word with others, the devil can lie to you and tell you no one wants to hear what you have to say. Once you begin to share, you will quickly see that everyone needs to hear the Gospel. Some may reject it initially. Never let that deter you. We are in an eternal struggle for the eternal destiny of everyone we share with about eternity. Verse 16 goes on to say that our good works are also the way we let our light shine. Often, if people are not interested in what we share, our kindness to them exemplified by our actions will open the door for them to want to know the reason that we are the way that we are. Our lives as Christians have an very important role. Everything about us should reflect Jesus. How exhilarating it is when someone tells us that we have a wonderful attitude. When we share the Gospel with them and it helps them. When God answers a prayer we pray for them. Let your light shine.
