February 19;      Revelation 22:12;       260/260(III);        ‘My Reward’

Revelation 22:12 "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

First of all the Lord does not see time as we do.  Since the basis of time for Him is forever, ‘quickly’ can mean a long period of time according to us.  Quickly in this verse, I believe means the period of time from when the Lord Jesus rose from the dead and at Pentecost when the Church age began to the rapture of the Church which will conclude the church age.  After the church age, the seven year period of time called the tribulation begins, followed by the one thousand year reign of Jesus on the earth called the millennium.  After that eternity on earth begins.  The vitally important information in this verse is that the Lord Jesus will reward every believer according to their work.  We are never judged based what another Christian has done while here on this earth.  Each of us has a separate calling, what the Lord created us to accomplish and our reward is based on that.  That is only fair.  This is one reason learning to quiet your mind down and listening in your spirit for the Holy Spirit’s leading is so critical.  Since we have been known by the Lord, from before we were formed in our mother’s womb and even then the Lord called us to do specific things, it is very important to quiet our busy minds (we can) and hear the Holy Spirit lead us in our spirit.  Once we know what our specific role and ministry is, our faithfulness to do what we have been called to do will determine our rewards.  We need never be jealous of another.  Faithfully do what Jesus called you to do and your life will be exciting and blessed.
