Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 342

December 8;      Mark 4:14;      32/260;      ‘Sow the Word’

Mark 4:14 The sower sows the word.

One of the most important things we are to do as Christians is ‘sow the Word.’  The word ‘sow’ means to scatter.  We are to spread the gospel everywhere we can, to everyone we can.  Everyone needs to hear the Word of God.  In the parable of the sower and the seed we see different types of soil, referring to the condition of the hearts of those who we share the gospel with.  Our ‘job’ is not to judge who we will share the gospel with, our job is to diligently share the gospel.  We cannot make someone accept or reject the Word of God.  Our responsibility is to share God’s Word with everyone.  In Romans 1:16 we are told that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation.  Since God’s Word is supernatural and truth, it always makes an impression on those you share with.  Perhaps when you share with someone, they do not respond favorably.  That is alright.  The Word has made an impression and the next time shared, it may ‘click.’  Again, our job is to scatter the seed, which is the Word.  In Ezekiel we are told that if we share the gospel with people, and they reject it, that is their problem.  If we do not share the gospel, the responsibility is ours.  We cannot allow those who do not know Jesus yet, to not hear the Word.  We are talking about eternity.  Once you purpose in your heart to share God’s Word, doing it becomes easier and easier.  How desperately everyone needs to hear the Good News.  Ask the Lord before you leave your home each day to ‘open doors’ for you to share the Word of God with someone.  What an honor we have to sow God’s Holy Word wherever we go.
