Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 330

November 26;       Matthew 20:28;        20/260;       ‘A Servant’s Heart’

Matthew 20:28  “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

The Lord Jesus told us that He came to ‘serve’. Think about that.  Jesus Christ is God, He was made Man to redeem us from sin and sickness. And in addition to that, the Lord Jesus created everything, including the humanity He came to serve. Why in the world would He come to serve, as well as suffer and die for us? His ministry was our Example, and the perfect picture of how we are to live our lives.  In the gospels, the Lord Jesus is more often called the ‘Son of Man’ than any other title. Why? Because the Lord Jesus identified with us, with His life giving us a picture of what His intention was for our lives. ‘Greatness’ in life does not come from others serving you. ‘True greatness’ comes by caring for everyone and looking to bless and help them wherever you go. Nothing can bring satisfaction and joy more than serving someone else, and helping them however they need help. Our life reflects Jesus and it is through genuinely ‘serving’ that others will soon see the reality of Jesus Christ in our life. The greatest honor is by is humbly serving others and being kind to them. They will know Jesus is in us even without us saying a word. Serving others opens the door to sharing the Lord with them and leading them into a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. So often people will say that they could tell that they knew there was something different about you and that they want Jesus in their life just the way you have Him.  Serve them, bless them, look for opportunities to share Jesus with them.  Your servants’ heart will speak volumes to them that ‘your Jesus’ is real, and they will be saved.
