Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 327

November 23;       Matthew 17:5;       17/260;       ‘Listen & Learn’

Matthew 17:5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"

Jesus took Peter, James and John to the mount of transfiguration.  There His spirit, His true nature began to glow.  His glorified appearance terrified the disciples.  Peter, started speaking, not making a lot of sense, and God the Father, speaking from heaven interrupted him, telling the disciples Jesus is His beloved Son, well pleasing to the Father, hear Jesus.  Quite often our emotions negatively affect what we say or often we simply talk too much.  This is a good verse to help us remember to cease what we are saying and listen to what the Lord would say to us in His Word.  God the Father is not unkind, nor does He lack courtesy.  God’s Word is what we need to hear and what we need to speak.  His Word is truth, alive, medicine and power.  Make it a priority to renew your mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:2).  Isaiah 55 teaches that the ways and thoughts of God are higher than ours.  As we become increasingly interested to listen to what the Lord tells us in His Word, the words we speak begin to reflect the Word of God.  The wisdom and help our speaking brings, when we share God’s Words, rather than our own, enables us to help others in any number of ways.  Learning God’s Word and allowing the Bible to change the way you speak and the things you speak about, helps you and I to teach and help others as only God’s Word can.  If we, as Christians, sincerely desire to change and we also understand our responsibility to help others become Born Again, we will soon see that it is the Word of God, which is truth, the lost need to hear and understand.  What an honor to share it.
