Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 319
November 15, 2019; Matthew 9:38; 9/260(V); ‘Raise Up Laborers’
Matthew 9:38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
There are many things to pray about and the Lord, in His Word, is so faithful to tell us what those things are and who to pray for. A very important area of prayer is asking God the Father, the Lord of the Harvest, to raise up laborers to share the gospel with those who as of yet do not know the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Once we become a Christian, the thought of someone we know (or do not know) dying without being Born Again, is unthinkable. Thank the Father that those laborers are full of the Holy Spirit, full of the Word, full of faith and full of love. Thank Him also for protecting those laborers as they share the gospel. Declare to the Lord that you desire to be a laborer He can count on. Even if you are not confident that you can be a laborer, know that Christians sharing the gospel are vital and that the Lord will help you share. The Lord would not ask you to pray for laborers if they were not incredibly important and that He also will help them do what perhaps initially they are uncomfortable with. Once you begin sharing the gospel, it becomes the greatest desire. Nothing can match praying with someone for them to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit will help you and Jesus tells us in John 16:7-9 that the Holy Spirit is working, convicting the lost because they have not yet believed to be saved. The Holy Spirit will use your sharing to convict the unsaved person. The reason laborers are so important is that they share eternal truths with the lost. Those who do not yet know Jesus must hear the saving knowledge of the Word. Nothing is more important.
