Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 316
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 316
November 12; Matthew 6:33; 6/260; ‘No Worries’
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”.
The Lord Jesus had just finished teaching the disciples that we do not need to worry about our need for food or clothing. Jesus tells us that ‘worry’ (which is perverted meditation) accomplishes nothing and can be very harmful. The reason worry is so harmful, is because ‘worry’ works exactly the way faith does. ‘Faith’ was given to us by the Lord to bring all of His ‘spiritual blessings’ into our life, by believing and confessing they are ours. We believe the Lord wants us to have the blessings and declare that they are ours in Jesus Name. ‘Worry’ is the exact opposite of faith, but works on the same principle. When we worry, we are believing that we will not receive the blessings God has promised and that we will receive ‘bad’ things. We believe this and speak it and we have the very thing that we do not want. The Lord wants us to learn and believe His Word. He wants us to stop worrying and trust that He loves us and is a good God. For many, ‘religion’ has taught them that the Lord does not want us to have anything. If we read and feed on religious books, rather than the Bible, it is very possible that unscriptural information will hinder our faith. To encourage us, Jesus gives us an example. He says that He feeds the birds and makes beautiful flowers clothed with more beauty than any of the magnificent structures of King Solomon. This verse teaches that if we will make the Lord Jesus the key priority of our life and live right, He will take care of all the other needs in our life. Life was never intended to be complicated. Love Jesus, believe the Word, live right, do well!
