November 5;   Revelation 21:3;      259/260;      ‘Dwelling With God’

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

The holy city in verse 2 is both the church and a literal city where believers will dwell with the Lord on earth forever.  The church has been in heaven with Jesus during the tribulation, but now after the battle of Armageddon, we will return to earth and be blessed by the presence of the Father and Jesus forever.  There will be no more death nor sorrow as we enjoy the incredible privilege of fellowshipping with the Father and our Lord Jesus.  In the new earth there will be no need for the sun or the moon as the glory of the Lord illuminates the earth.  There will no longer be the need for a temple to worship in, the ‘temple’ for the saved will be the literal presence of God.  The holy city coming down from heaven is a perfect cube, its length, width and height will be the same.  The implication is a perfect eternal habitat for the Lord’s people.  There will be twelve gates in the holy city, opened in every direction for all of the believers.  There will be an angel at each of the gates representing the twelve tribes of Israel. There will be twelve foundations supporting the holy city named after the twelve apostles of the Lord Jesus.  The gates of the holy city will never be shut and there will no longer be any night.  Our Lord, whose thoughts and ways are so much higher than ours has an incredible eternity planned for His people.  Think of all of the different flowers and their beauty, the wonderful variety of animals the Lord created and the incredible beauty of this earth without the curse.  Eternity with Jesus.  I can only imagine.
