Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 3
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 3
January 3; Hebrews 9:12; 212/260(III); ‘Eternal Redemption’
Hebrews 9:11-13 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
The Old Testament is types and shadows of what the Father did through Jesus. The animal sacrifices were a type of what Jesus would do. The innocent blood of an animal was shed for the sins of the Jews. One day, Jesus innocent blood would be shed for the sins of humanity. Once a year, on the Day of Atonement, the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies of the Tabernacle and later the Temple with the blood of an animal. The blood was sprinkled over the Ark of the Covenant and the sins of the Jews were covered for another year. The High Priest had to do this every year and on the Day of Atonement, when the people saw the High Priest dressed in his special attire, it was a constant reminder that they were sinners and their sin had to be dealt with. The Lord Jesus, when He rose from the dead, took His blood, not the blood of goats and calves, and entered the Most Holy Place in heaven. There He presented His blood once, for all time. Jesus’ blood did not cover our sins. His blood cleansed us from our sins once for all time. The sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, on our behalf, brought eternal redemption to everyone who believes what Jesus did for them. The finished work was done by Jesus and there is no more reminder of our sins. He took our sins upon Himself and gave us His right standing with the Father. We call this righteousness. The ability to stand in the presence of the Father without guilt or condemnation as if sin never existed. Free.
