Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 293
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 293
October 20; Revelation 5:6; 243/260(IV); ‘A Lamb’
Revelation 5:6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. This verse amazes me. Jesus Christ, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the One who has all authority and the One whose Name we use as we pray to the Father to get our prayers answered is spoken of here by divine revelation as a Lamb. The Lamb is a symbol of meekness and of a sacrificial offering. When the Lord Jesus, after His resurrection appeared to the disciples Thomas was not there and said unless he put his finger in the holes in Jesus’ hands and his hand in Jesus’ side, he would not believe. The next time Jesus appeared to the disciples Thomas was there. Jesus told Thomas to put his finger in the holes in Jesus’ hands and his hand in Jesus side, where the Roman soldier’s spear was thrust (John 20:24-29). What this says is that Jesus, in His resurrected body has the marks of the crucifixion. Perhaps to be an eternal reminder of the sacrifice He willing became for us. Since ‘the Lamb’ lives, it reveals to us that He has overcome death and hell. A horn in the Bible often speaks of power. Seven horns represents Jesus having complete and perfect power. Seven eyes represents complete knowledge and insight. The seven eyes of Jesus are said to be the seven Spirits of God. I believe that this means that the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit work together in our lives and to help us. I think a perfect example of this is that when we become born again, Jesus comes to live in our spirit, when in reality it is the Holy Spirit who indwells us. Jesus ministered by the Holy Spirit and has sent His Spirit to minister thru us.
