Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 286

October 13;    2 John 6;      236/260(IV);      ‘This is Love’

2 John 6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

The New Testament Law is love.  The Lord still wants us to do what is right, but our motive now is because I love the Lord and people, I will not violate proper things to do.  The Bible teaches that love fulfills the Law (Romans 13:10).  This makes all the sense in the world.  Why would the Lord want you to conduct yourself in a proper manner?  Out of obligation or because He has completely changed your life and the desire of your heart is to live a life that is pleasing unto Him.  The Bible says that love never fails (I Corinthians 13:8).  When you treat people with kindness, preferring them to yourself, it makes a very powerful impression on them.  If you know them or work with them and they come to know that you are a Christian, they will immediately relate your conduct towards them and the Lord Jesus.  It will play a big part in drawing them to Jesus.  The Bible tells us that the kindness of the Lord produces repentance in an unsaved person (Romans 2:4).  Jesus always treated people with love and compassion.  John 17:18 tells us that as the Father sent Jesus, Jesus sends us, meaning we should and surely can treat everyone with love and compassion as well.  Jesus in John 13:34 says that everyone will know that we are His disciple by our love.  Every way we look at the New Testament Law, we see that love and Christianity are synonymous.  Walking with Jesus is the greatest adventure.  Our purposing in our heart to walk in love with everyone regardless of the way they treat us is a key to adventure and an abundant life.
