Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 276

October 3;     I Peter 4:3;      226/260(IV);      ‘Our Past Lifetime’

1 Peter 4:3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles — when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

Christianity offers us the opportunity to live our lives very differently than we have lived prior to becoming a Christian.  Salvation imparts eternal life into our spirit, when the Holy Spirit changes our spirit and comes to live in our spirit.  The Lord did not come to earth and suffer as He did, to simply give us eternal life with Him when we die physically.  Jesus was our Example of how to live in the way He has always desired His people to live.  The life that the world gives is not that great.  They may advertise, showing clips of everyone together smiling, laughing and having a wonderful time getting along together.  That scenario rarely happens.  Think about this.  I just read a little article on the computer that a girl in the second grade brought a knife to school to kill the little boy she liked, because he liked another girl in class.  The second grade.  satan is a liar.  He advertises worldly parties and get togethers, depicting them as such a great time.  When the alcohol and drugs begin to manifest, people and good times change quickly.  The Lord Jesus offers good, wholesome, clean fun, centered around Him.  We can have picnics without the alcohol and drugs.  We can play a softball gave without people swearing and making a simple gave more than it is.  So often unsaved erroneously believe that if they give their heart to Jesus, they will have a boring life.  My wife and I taught Middle School youths before Bible School.  The boys were afraid only girls who were not pretty loved Jesus.  Jesus is life.  No more past life.
