January 27;      3 John 3;       236/260(III);        ‘The Truth In You’

3 John 3 For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.

As a minister, there is no greater blessing than to hear that the Word of God is changing those you teach.  In this verse other Christians were telling John about the Word in Gaius, who was taught by John.  His example must have had a powerful effect on them, for them to tell John.  Isn’t that wonderful, God’s Word of course will have a powerful effect on your life if you are diligent about reading and doing it.  The Word of God in you can also bless others as they watch how you walk in the truth.  The Word lived by you can bless and cause others to desire to know the Word just like you do.  The Lord Jesus teaches in John 8 that if we continue in His Word we are His disciples and we will know the truth and the truth we know will make us free.  Free from the lies and deception this world offers as truth.  Others will see when the foundation of the Word in you allows you to walk peacefully in stressful situations.  When they see you treat difficult people courteously, when they cannot.  As they see the way you handle every situation and when they ask you how, they tell you that you are in the world, but not of the world.  God’s Word raises our lives up to a different level.  Being a doer of the Word is an excellent witness for the Lord.  Think how John felt when others told him how Gaius’ knowledge of the Word inspired them.  Then remember that this verse is the Holy Spirit speaking through John.  Your walking in the truth blesses the Lord too.
