Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 264

September 21;     Hebrews 10:10;      214/260(IV);      ‘Sanctified’

Hebrews 10:10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

The ‘will’ this verse is teaching about, is the Lord Jesus coming to earth to do His Father’s will, redeeming humanity.  How incredibly thrilling this is that when we become born again, we are ‘sanctified’ literally set apart for a holy purpose.  On the cross, as we have come to know, there was an exchange.  The sinless Jesus, who had right standing with His Father, while here on earth yielded that position and took upon Himself the sins and sicknesses of humanity.  When we believe the Gospel and become saved, the right standing Jesus had with His Father becomes ours.  This was the offering the Lord Jesus made.  He offered His body and blood for us once, for all time.  Here is the ‘challenge’ that this verse reveals.  If you are a Christian, legally you become sanctified.  Galatians 2:20 tells us that we, believers have been crucified with Jesus and the life we now live is in His service.  Though this is the greatest honor anyone could be given, not every believer allows themselves to continue the ministry of Jesus.  Spending time reading the Word, spending time in prayer, spending time attending church and being active in church requires diligence and your time.  In the parable of the sower and the seed.  Some of the seed, which is the Word of God, fell amongst the thorns and did not grow.  Thorns are the priorities of things other than the things of God.  The plan of salvation and the opportunity we have been given to be part of the Lord’s work is sacred.  Positionally you ‘are Jesus’ now.  Reveal Him to this world by a sanctified life.
