Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 263

September 20;     Hebrews 9:14;      213/260(IV);      ‘How Much More’

Hebrews 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

In the Old Testament, the Lord instituted that the blood of sacrificed animals would be shed for the sins of the Jewish people.  A picture of a future event was being taught to the children of Israel.  Innocent blood was to be shed for the sins of guilty people.  These sacrifices were done countless times throughout the history of the Jews.  The Bible clearly teaches that the blood of those innocent animals can only cover the sins of the people, That is why the sacrifices had to be done over and over.  Jesus Christ, the Son of God, deity, left His deity in heaven and came to this earth as a Man.  He led a sinless life and His blood was free of Adam’s sin which cursed humanity, since Jesus’ ‘Father’ was the Holy Spirit.  Jesus ministered mightily as a Man empowered by the Holy Spirit.  The religious leaders hated Jesus and were jealous of Him because of that power and they eventually crucified Jesus on the cross.  The devil thought that when Jesus was crucified, he won.  satan had no idea that the cross was the remedy of God the Father for the sins of mankind.  Again, Jesus’ blood was divine and Jesus only needed to shed His blood for us once.  Innocent blood shed for guilty humanity.  Jesus’ blood cleansed us from our sins, which were forgiven, forgotten and cleansed.  We are given Jesus’ right standing with God when we accept Jesus as our Lord.  The devil cannot condemn us and we are free to continue the ministry of our Lord Jesus.  Our conscience is legally clear.  It is a reality when we believe and live our life by this truth.
