Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 25

January 25;      I John 5:4;       234/260(III);        ‘Faith is the Victory’

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.

We are clearly told in this verse that when we are born again we have overcome the world.  Many Christians are born again and their lives do not reflect their having overcome the world.  The reason for this is taught right here, faith is required to give us the victory that is legally ours.  Hebrews 11:1 teaches that faith is the ‘title deed’ to what we hope for or need.  The Bible also teaches that faith comes by hearing on a continual basis the Word of God (Romans 10:17).  This is how we overcome the world.  As Christians we are to spend quality time reading the Word of God.  This takes diligence as quite often the world tries to monopolize our time with the things it tells us are important.  God’s Word and the ways of the world are different and it takes time to renew your mind with what the Word says.  As you discipline yourself and spend time reading the Word your faith in what the Word says grows.  You see how much the Lord has done for you.  You see have very much you are loved and the blessings that are now legally yours because you are a Christian.  Your faith then sees the provisions that have been made for you as legally yours.  Your faith then acts as a title deed, a legal document, you present to the Lord stating that you have what the Bible teaches is legally yours.  Another definition of faith is that your faith is a receiver, to bring God’s blessings from the spiritual world to the natural world.  Our faith overcomes the world.
