Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 229

August 17, 2019;     Colossians 1:16;      179/260(IV);      ‘Incomparable Jesus’

Colossains 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

These few verses in Colossians 1 give us an idea of who the Lord Jesus Christ is.  First, in this verse, we see that everything that exists were created by Jesus.  This verse also teaches that everything He created was for Him.  There is no time in the spiritual realm and God the Father already saw Jesus fulfilling the plan of redemption, reconciling us back to the Father by His finished work on the cross..   Verse 17 tells us that Jesus is before all things and in Him all things consist.  Before anything was created Jesus was in heaven with the Father and the Holy Spirit.  Once the Lord created everything, He upholds everything by His Word (Hebrews 1:3).  The universe remains exactly as Jesus created it because He says so.  Verse 18 teaches that Jesus is the Head of the Church, which is His body (Ephesians 1:22-23).  Jesus earned that right when He redeemed us from sins and sicknesses on the cross, spent three days in hell and then was raised from the dead by the Holy Spirit.  Because of Jesus’ obedience and sacrifice, God the Father seated Jesus as His right hand, far above all demonic power.  Since Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, He has authority over all things.  Verse 20 tells us we were reconciled back to the Father by Jesus’ blood, shed on the cross.  All of heaven and earth were restored to God the Father by Jesus.  God the Father loves us and His plan to set us free of our sins and made righteous by Jesus sacrifice on our behalf is done. All who have accepted Jesus have been born again.  Incomparable Jesus.
