January 22;      I John 2:22;       231/260(III);        ‘A Cult Defined’

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.

Eternity revolves around the Lord Jesus Christ and who He is.  John 14:6 teaches that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and that no one goes to heaven except through Him.  Salvation is given to us when we believe the gospel message of who Jesus is and the redemptive work that He did on our behalf.  There is no other way for someone to receive eternal life except by believing what God’s Word teaches concerning the Lord Jesus and His willing sacrifice on our behalf.  The entire Bible was written for one purpose and that purpose is to introduce us to the Lord Jesus Christ.  Prophecies, types and shadows and the Name of God Yahweh all point directly to Jesus and who He is.  A cult is simply defined as any group that denies the deity of Jesus Christ.  They may say He was a good Man, a prophet, a worker of miracles or anything else.  But if they do not teach that Jesus is the Son of God and His redemptive work on our behalf, that group is a cult.  Satan, the devil, does not care what you believe as long as you do not believe what God’s Word teaches concerning Jesus.  That is why many cults add additional books to the Bible to deceive you and offer other means of earning eternal life.  They also reword original scripture to make the Bible say things that are not true.  God’s Word was written for our protection so that we will not be deceived.  Do your reading in the New Testament and see who Jesus is. Then cults cannot deceive you.
