Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 18
January 18; 2 Peter 1:4; 227/260(III); ‘Partakers’
2 Peter 1:4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Verses 2-4 tell us of the incredible power of the Word of God to bless you and change you forever. Verse 2 teaches God’s grace, which is everything He has done for us because of His great love for us and His peace, which is a life free of anxiety because of our relationship with Jesus, is increased in our lives by the Word of God. Diligence on our part to read the Word builds our faith to believe we have everything the Word says we have and we are everything the Word says we are. Verse 3 goes on to say that the power of the truth of the Word, when believed and acted upon gives us everything good that pertains to this life and the ability to live a godly life style. The Lord does this simply because of His goodness and His great love for us . Verse 4 teaches that the Word reveals to us the great truths the Word contains pertaining to our lives. Those truths give us the opportunity to partake of the divine nature of the Lord, literally to be Jesus Christ on this earth. Think of the honor and privilege that is offered to us if the Word of God has importance to us. Once we became born again, we have literally escaped the corruption the lusts of this world bring. All of these incredible truths are dependent upon our diligence to spend time in the Word. God’s Word is literally the Lord talking to us, telling us of His great love for us, what has been done for us by the Father through Jesus and all that has legally become ours. Honor the Word always.
