Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 14

January 14;      I Peter 2:24;       223/260(III);        ‘Forgiven & Healed’

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness — by whose stripes you were healed.

This verse reveals to us in the New Testament what Isaiah 53:5 prophetically teaches, that the Lord Jesus redeemed us from our sins and our sicknesses on the cross.  The Lord bore the sins of all humanity upon Himself on the cross and gave us His right standing with the Father (righteousness) when we believe the gospel message and are born again.  On the cross, our sins were forgiven, forgotten and cleansed.  We were made righteous legally on the cross and now, because of our incredible sense of gratitude, we purpose in our heart to live righteously.  It does not mean we never sin, but our desire is not to sin and we are quick to repent when we do.  When we are saved, we believe by faith that the Lord Jesus redeemed us from our sins and sicknesses.  It is relatively easy to believe our sins were forgiven as it involves simply believing that our sins were dealt with on the cross.  Oftentimes, sickness is a different matter.  We are to believe by faith that our body was healed, even when pain and symptoms remain in our body.  This is why diligence in Bible reading and meditation is so important.  The Word of God is true and by spending quality time getting scriptures that confirm your healing into your spirit, your faith to believe these verses will grow.  At some point, based on your diligence to build your faith for healing, your body will come in line with the scriptures and you will be free.  The Word is true. We have been forgiven and healed.
