Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 12
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 12
January 12; James 5:14; 221/260(III); ‘One Way’
James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
There are several ways to be healed taught in the Bible. This is one of them. If someone is not feeling well, they can call the pastor of the church that they attend, go to that church and have the pastor anoint them with oil in the name of Jesus. Verse 15 teaches that the pastor will pray for that individual, in faith, after they are anointed with oil. By doing this the person not feeling well will be healed. ‘Save’ in verse 15 also means heal. The prayer of faith prayed by the pastor and believed by the person in need of healing will set that person free from the illness. Notice in verse 15, the one needing healing will also be forgiven of their sins. The Lord is good and wants nothing but the best for us. The Lord Jesus on the cross took our sicknesses upon Himself, just as He took our sins upon Himself. He removed both and we have a legal right to be free from both. Here is another reason why it is important to attend and be part of a local church. The worship, the teaching of the Word, the fellowship with other believers and getting involved, using the talents given you by the Lord is biblical. As the person attending the church gets to know the pastors, trust develops as they see the anointing on the pastor of the church. When the truth about healing is preached and results are seen in other believers, the one needing healing can believe that they too will be healed when they call and ask for prayer. Attend a local church, get to know the pastor spiritually.
