Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 104

April 14;      Luke 10:21;       54/260(IV);      ‘Jump For Joy’

Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

The Lord Jesus, as with His disciples, transferred the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon seventy men and sent them forth to go to the cities He would be going to.  Jesus gave them power to heal the sick and when the seventy returned, they told the Lord that the demons were subject to them in Jesus’ Name (v17).  Jesus saw in the spiritual realm the devil fall like lightning from heaven (v18), meaning the authority of those Jesus sent out had a great detrimental effect on the kingdom of darkness.  To keep things in proper perspective, Jesus reminds them (and us) not to rejoice in the power He has given us over the demonic forces, but to rejoice because our names are written in heaven and we will spend eternity with the Lord.  It is almost like Jesus is saying, of course you have power over demonic forces, that is a given, be more grateful for eternal life.  What is so incredible to me in the above verse is Jesus’ reaction to the report of the seventy.  He ‘rejoiced,’ literally jumped for joy or twirled when He heard what they had to say.  Our wonderful Lord and Savior has emotions and when we go forth and do what He has commissioned us to do it excites Jesus to the point that He cannot stand still.  I believe that that is till the case today.  Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, but I also believe He stands and jumps for joy a whole lot as we, those who choose to continue His ministry lead people to Him, heal them by the power of the Holy Spirit or cast a demon out of someone.  He paid a huge price, this is His return.
