Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 89

March 30;   I Corinthians 12:27;   145/260(I);   ‘Individual Members’

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

Ephesians 1 teaches us that the Lord Jesus is the Head of the Church and that we are His Body.  Just like a human body has many parts and each part is important and has a function, so too is the Body of Christ.  Here is the key that makes every person, functioning in every capacity, vital.  We are the Body of Christ.  That means in a very real way, the kindness and courtesy and help we give to Christians, is the same way we treat the Lord Jesus, since we are all aprt of His body. In a local church, there are so many things that must be done, to make sure the church and the church services are everything they can be.  Children teachers, who can teach the profound truths of the Bible, in a manner children can understand.  Singers and musicians who are anointed to bring a church congregation into the very presence of God by ministering to the Lord in music.  Ushers, greeters, book store clerks, parking lot attendants, communion servers.  Biblically trained prayer room workers to lead someone to a Born Again experience with Jesus and get Christians baptized in the Holy Spirit.  Administrative work.  Praying for the sick.  Bible Study teachers, youth leaders.  Those gifted in decorations.  Those who follow up with visitors.  The list goes on and on.  The key is doing what the Lord has called each Christian to do.  Do something. If you do not know where the Lord wants you, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you.  Meanwhile get involved, as you show yourself faithful, the Lord show you your specific place. In all of this, everyone is vital, everyone has the same value.  We are all ‘working’ for Jesus.
