Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 81

March 22;   I Corinthians 4:2;   137/260(I);   ‘Faithful’

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

The Bible tells us that we are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).  All of us have a ‘general’ call of God on our lives.  God’s general call on our lives is the Word of God.  We are called to read, know and share the Word of God with others.  We are to pray for others.  We are to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and use that empowerment to set people free.  We are to hook in to a local church and grow spiritually.  All of us are ministers of reconciliation, Ambassadors for the Lord Jesus Christ, helping those who do not yet know Jesus, to know Him.  Additionally, we have been given specific talents and abilities by the Lord to use for ministry to others. (Jeremiah 11:5 and Matthew 25) teach us this.  God the Father has called each of us to do our part to change this world for Him.  No one else can.  The lost do not share the gospel, nor do they care. This verse teaches that the Lord requires us to be faithful to do our part.  All of the talent and ability in the world means nothing if we will not use it to do the Lord’s work.  The parable of the talents (Matthew 25) is a perfect example of this.  The man given 5 talents doubled them and was rewarded.  The man given 2 talents doubled them and received the same reward.  The reason for that is we are each rewarded based on what we have been called to do. We are never compared with anyone else, when the Lord rewards us for our faithfulness.  Another man was given 1 talent and was not faithful with it.  He was rebuked and received no reward.  Be faithful.  Nothing is more rewarding or vital, than doing the Lord’s work.  Being faithful is the key.
