Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 79

March 20;   I Corinthians 2:5;   135/260(I);   ‘God’s Power’

1 Corinthians 2:5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

The Bible tells us that our faith should not be in the wisdom of men.  The wisdom of man is always changing and is based on our five natural senses.  This verse goes on to say that our faith should be in the power of God.  First, Romans 1:16 teaches that the Word of God is power.  God’s Word never changes, it will build your faith and the Word has the power to do exactly what it says it will do when you believe the Word.  Second, in Acts 1:8 the Lord Jesus told us that we would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon us.  That is called the baptism in the Holy Spirit.  The greatest demonstration of power came when the Holy Spirit raised the Lord Jesus from hades.  All of the demonic forces tried to stop this, but they could not.  That incredible power is upon you to minister mightily.  The Lord Jesus ministered on the earth as a Man, empowered by the Holy Spirit.  Jesus did no miracles until He was 30 years old and the power of the Holy Spirit came upon Him when He was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.  Third, there is great power in your prayers and as you praise and worship the Lord.  Your prayers change circumstances (the wisdom of men often cannot do this).  Your praise and worship also brings the presence of Almighty God on the scene to accomplish what needs to be done.  As Christians we need to know, believe and live in the power of God.  We were created to change this world by God’s power.  Nothing else can.  Those who do not yet know Jesus erroneously think that Christianity is boring.  Nothing is more exciting than the power of God.
