Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 37

February 6;   Acts 3:6;   92/260(VI);   ‘The Name of Jesus’

Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

Peter and John, now baptized in the Holy Spirit, were going into the temple to pray.  There was a crippled man, crippled from birth, begging at the gate called Beautiful, as they went into the temple.  He looked at Peter and John, asking them to give him something and he received something he never expected.  Peter boldly commanded the man to get up in the Name of Jesus.  The crippled man was healed instantly, rose up jumping, shouting and praising the Lord.  The miraculous healing of the crippled man caused all of the people in the temple to marvel and glorify God.  Miracles not only bless the person who has been healed, but they open the hearts of those who witness or are made aware of that miracle.  Miracles are a tremendous evangelistic tool.  Why is the Name of Jesus so powerful?  The Bible teaches that because of the sacrifice of Jesus (Philippians 2), God the Father has given the Name of Jesus all authority.  Using the Name of Jesus to heal is one of the healing methods taught in the Word of God.  Peter and John understood this.  They knew that even though Jesus was not there, they could use His Name to do miracles as if the Lord was there.  In essence, Peter and John had to ‘power of attorney’ to use Jesus’ Name.  When Peter used Jesus’ Name, the crippled man was instantly healed.  What Peter and John did, we can do as well.  We, as Spirit filled Christians, have the right to use the Name of Jesus to minister to others.  What a supernatural life is ours.  The genuine power we have as Christians opens the door to the most exciting and fulfilling life anyone could have,
