September 2;   Mark 6:13;   34/260(II);   ‘Jesus Sent Them Out’

Mark 6:13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them. 

In verse 7 of this chapter, the Word tells us that Jesus sent out His disciples preaching, casting out demons and healing the sick.  The Lord transferred the anointing that was upon Him to His disciples and they were able to duplicate His ministry.  This obviously was a foretaste of the disciples becoming baptized in the Holy Spirit, with the Holy Spirit coming upon them to empower them for ministry.  I personally saw this during seminars at the Bible school I attended.  Rev. Kenneth Hagin would be laying hands on hundreds of people to be healed.  As Rev. Hagin got older, his physical body would tire.  He would call one of his ministry team members to him, lay his hands upon that member and transfer his anointing to them, so that the healings could continue.  In John 17:18, the Lord Jesus commands us to continue His ministry, when He returned to heaven.  Jesus also teaches in John 16:7-8 that it is vitally important that He returns to heaven, for when He does, He will send the Holy Spirit to empower us just as Jesus was empowered.  Preaching, teaching, healing, casting out demons, laying hands on people so that they become baptized in the Holy Spirit.  Jesus told His disciples and us, in the Great Commission (Mark 16:15-20; Matthew 28:18-20), that we would do all of this in His Name.  Reading about the Lord Jesus transferring His anointing in this chapter and also reading about the ministry of the disciples once they were baptized in the Holy Spirit so excites me.  If they did what the Lord commanded them to do, so can I and so can you.  Life, the way it ought to be.
