Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 125

May 5;   Colossians 3:2;   181/260(I);   ‘Heavenly Minded’

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

This verse is a choice.  It is up to you and I as to what we think about.  ‘Set’ basically means to be intensively interested in.  You could set your mind on your family, your job, your hobby or any number of good things.  Obviously there are natural things that are important and we must think about them.  However, the Holy Spirit, through Paul, is telling us that setting your mind on the things of God has eternal importance.  We have a certain amount of time to be alive and as a Christian we have the responsibility to know the things of the Lord very well.  You will do well in every aspect of your natural life when you know from God’s Word, how to be a godly parent, how to be the kind of employee the Lord would have you to be and how to act in a godly way as you enjoy your hobby with others.  More than that, we are ministers of reconciliation.  Without the Lord this world does not have a clue as to what real life is all about.  They will not know any different by spending their time with others who do not know Jesus.  Not only do they face eternal separation from the Lord, but life, apart from Jesus, makes no sense.  We are to be intensively interested in renewing our mind and building our spirit as to who we are in Jesus Christ.  By focusing on who God says we are, and endeavoring to be just what the Word says we are, we become the vital link to Jesus Christ the unsaved need.   The Bible says they have no hope without Jesus.  It is our privilege to lead them to Him. Jesus Christ paid a huge price for us.  We owe Him everything. Sharing with & bringing the lost to Jesus is one way we say thank You.
