Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 124

May 4;   Colossians 2:15;   180/260(I);   ‘Our Triumphant Lord’

Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

The devil is not all knowing.  Only Almighty God is.  When the Lord Jesus was crucified, satan thought that he had won.  The devil had no idea that the cross was the Father’s plan right from the beginning.  On the third day, after the crucifixion, when the Lord Jesus had paid the price for our sins and sicknesses, Jesus rose from the dead.  In Romans 8:11 we are told that the Holy Spirit raised the Lord Jesus’ spirit from hell and reunited His spirit with His body in the tomb.  The devil, caught off guard, now amassed all of the demonic forces to try to prevent the resurrection of Christ and His ascension into heaven.  The demonic power was no match for the power of the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  That day, in the spirit realm, the Lord Jesus made a public spectacle of satan, disgracing him in the presence of all of his demonic forces.  Just as a victorious Roman general disgraced the military leaders of a defeated foe, satan was publically made a spectacle of, in the spirit realm, by our conquering Savior.  Our enemy, the devil, who lies to us and tells us how powerful he is and what he will do to us, is a defeated foe.  What satan counts on is that you do not know the Bible, so you do not know that Jesus defeated satan on our behalf.  In Matthew 28:18, Jesus tells us all authority is His and He gives that authority to us.  In creation, Adam was given authority on this earth.  When he sinned, Adam gave authority to satan.  Jesus victory gave that authority back to us.   Live knowing the devil is ‘under your feet.’  Do the work of the ministry, knowing your authority and set the world free for the Lord Jesus.
