Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 29

January 29;      John 16:33;       84/260;      ‘Peace in Jesus’

John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

The Word of God teaches about the peace of God.  In John14:27 the Lord Jesus tells us that His peace is not like the world’s peace.  The peace that the world offers is only present when there are no unsettling circumstances going on in your life.  As soon as you face a challenge, the peace of the world disappears.  The peace of God becomes ours when we are born again.  God’s peace is one of the fruit of the Spirit.  God’s peace is not the freedom from circumstances, it is the presence of Someone.  The peace of God is a personal relationship we have with Jesus Christ.  Because of that relationship we have peace regardless of any situation that we face.  Jesus tells us in this verse that indeed we will have tribulation, but we can be of good cheer because Jesus is Lord and He has overcome every problem that can ever come our way.  In Philippians 4:6-7 the Bible teaches that we are to be anxious about nothing.  How can this be when we face a serious situation?  We can do this, though it may take a little time if you just learn this truth, or have never done it.  Since we have a personal relationship with Jesus as we fellowship with Him through the Word and prayer, our faith in this relationship grows.  We know that Jesus is God and nothing is too difficult for Him.  Any challenge we face, we do not face alone, but Jesus, the King of kings is with us and will see us through every circumstance.  We refuse to be anxious, we pray about what is going on and we worship the Lord thanking Him for the victory.  His peace is there to set us free.
