Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 28

January 28;      John 15:17;       83/260;      ‘Love One Another’

John 15:17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

The New Testament Law is love.  Love fulfills the Old Testament Law.  If we love the Lord, we will not have any other ‘gods’ before Him.  If we love others, we will not violate the Ten Commandments in our conduct towards them.  Notice, the Lord Jesus tells us that loving others is a command.  Why?  Because love never fails.  It always has an effect on others.  God the Father loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us from our sins and sicknesses.  The Father’s love would never allow the sin of Adam, that separated humanity from the Father, to continue without Him rectifying the situation.  The Lord Jesus loved us enough that He willingly came, knowing He was going to suffer beyond our ability to comprehend, in order for us to be reconciled back to the Father.  When we become born again, the Holy Spirit deposits God’s love into our spirit.  The Lord does this so that we can continue the ministry of Jesus on the earth.  Human love will fail us, when we deal with those who do not treat us kindly.  Jesus knowing how cruel people can be, put His love in us so that we can be kind to others and treat them properly when they do not treat us in that manner.  When we do choose to love those who treat us improperly, that love makes a powerful impression of them.  They may not say anything the first time you do this, but consistent doses of the love of God will play a powerful part in that person getting saved.  Often in the Word, Jesus was moved with compassion and ministered to others. So can we.
