Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 97

April 6;       2 Corinthians 4:7;       153/260;       ‘The Treasure’

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

The treasure in our body (earthen vessel) is the Holy Spirit who comes into our spirit when we are born again. The Holy Spirit removes the heart of stone that was in us before salvation and replaces it with a heart of flesh, alive unto the Lord. He deposits the love of God into our spirit and the fruit of the Spirit as well. God’s love and the fruit of the Spirit is primarily for character, the character of Jesus. The character of Jesus is power. God’s love never fails and always makes an impression on others. The fruit of the Spirit enable us to manifest the character of Jesus to an angry and selfish world. It takes great power to treat others with love and kindness, when they may not be treating you the same way. Consistent love, given to an individual will change them. It may take a little time, but the character of Jesus in you will be victorious. The Holy Spirit also comes upon you, when you are baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit coming upon you, enables you to flow in the power that the Lord Jesus ministered by when He was here on earth. It is the power to heal, cast out demons and do what is necessary to set you and others free. We choose to live by the character of Jesus in us. That means that there is never a time when we do not react to others as Jesus would. The more you purpose to do this, the more you will do it and the more able to do it you will be. The power of the Holy Spirit to minister is yours and is always there to minister to others. The Word continually teaching us and revealing Jesus’ character and the power recharged daily by prayer. What a treasure. What life they yield.
