Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 92

April 1;       I Corinthians 14:14;       147/260;        ‘My Spirit Prays’

1 Corinthians 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

One of the greatest gifts we have as Christians is the baptism in the Holy Spirit, with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues. The power of the Holy Spirit coming upon a believer when they are baptized in the Holy Spirit is much more than tongues, but tongues themselves have great value in many ways. When we become born again, the Holy Spirit comes to live in our spirit. This is primarily for the purpose of our manifesting the character of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit deposits God’s love and the fruit of the Spirit in our spirit enabling us to treat everyone with the love and kindness of Jesus. When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit for ministry. This verse tells us that when we pray in tongues, the words we pray originate in our spirit and they are inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Amplified Bible says ‘my spirit by the Holy Spirit in me prays.’ Remember the baptism in the Holy Spirit is for power. Your prayers are extremely powerful when you pray in tongues. When we are praying for ourselves or someone else, we often do not know all of the details, that if we did know them, would help us pray more effectively. God knows that this is so, so the Holy Spirit, who is God, knows every detail and when you pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit inspires your words to cover everything that needs to be covered. Praying in tongues is an incredibly important gift from God. Many do not fully understand the importance of tongues. Trust God. Why would He give you something, that is not vital for your success when you pray.
