Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 91

March 31;        I Corinthians 13:5;        146/260;        ‘Supernatural Love’

1 Corinthians 13:5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. Amplified Bible

This is just part of the description of God’s love, actually this verse teaches clearly what God’s love is not.  His love comes into our spirit when we become born again.  God’s love is supernatural, enabling us to conduct ourselves and treat others as Jesus did.  Verse 8 tells us that His love never fails. I do not watch a great deal of the news.  What I do see, as they talk to and interview numerous people, most of them seem to talk and act, doing exactly what we are taught that God’s love does not do.  This verse teaches things that disciples manifesting God’s love never do.  The actions of this verse reflects pride, not God’s love.  This verse teaches that God’s love is not conceited, arrogant and inflated with pride.  Pride is the nature of satan.  Pride’s only interest is in itself and self promotion – who I am, what I have done.  The conduct of the world is very often rude and unmannerly, acting in an unbecoming manner.  This behavior is not interested in others since it does not care about them, nor what they may think.  The New Testament Law is love and God’s love heals, restores and takes great interest in others.  The prideful actions of those not walking in God’s love are cruel and degrading.  Pride insists on getting its own way and only cares for itself.  Pride cares little about anyone else’s feelings, but resents anyone daring to say something or criticize their conduct.  Pride demands retribution for anything it considers ‘an evil done to them.’  It is easy to see why the nature of satan, reflected in the lives of the lost do nothing to help those who hurt. Pride pays a great deal of attention to its own ‘suffered wrong.’  God’s love is the only remedy for a world scarred by pride.
