Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 79

March 19;        I Corinthians 1:24;          134/260;        ‘Power & Wisdom’

1 Corinthians 1:24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Chapter One of First Corinthians talks much about the wise of the world and the powerful of the world disdaining the Word of God.  It is not that the wise by worldly standards and those who are powerful and successful cannot be saved.  Of course they can be and many of them are.  The challenge for them is that pride hinders the simplicity of the Gospel message.  It is not until you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and become a Christian, that you begin to realize that the depth of the wisdom of God’s Word is unfathomable.  This has to be true since the ‘Book’ was written by God Himself, who gave us the very mind we often fill with worldly wisdom the devil uses to cause us to doubt the very existence of God.  When life happens as it always does, very often even the worldly wise and powerful become more open to hear about the Lord.  The devil is so driven to destroy us that he does not realize that the negative circumstances he uses against us, actually become the means for us to cry out to Jesus for help.  Here is what this verse is teaching, once you do ‘humble’ yourself and become a Christian, as you grow, you realize the Holy Spirit power is far greater than any power the world could offer.  If you are sincere and desire to learn about the things of God through His Word, it becomes very clear that that the wisdom of God is greater and far exceeds any wisdom the world could ever offer.  As you begin to see the reality of the power and wisdom of God, you quickly lose your affinity for what the
