Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 70

March 10;        Romans 8:26;          125/260;        ‘Spirit Led Prayers’

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

There are several vital reasons to pray in tongues and this is one of them.  The word ‘weaknesses’ simply means that often when we are praying for something or someone, we do not know all of the details concerning what we are praying about.  Often if you are praying for another person, they have not told you all of the details concerning the need for prayer.  The reason could be embarrassment or they forgot to mention everything you need to know.  Or suppose you are awakened during the night and know that there is someone who needs prayer, but you do not know who that someone is or what they need prayer for.  That is what weaknesses means.  The Holy Spirit knows.  He is God just as much as God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit has no weaknesses, He knows everything including every detail of the person or situation you are praying about.  ‘Groanings which cannot be uttered’ means praying in tongues.  The phrase basically means praying in a articulated language you do not know.  Can you see the incredible important of praying in tongues for just this one reason?  We want our prayers to be accurate and powerful for ourselves and others.  Since we are human and do not know everything our prayers in our known language can be limited or hindered.  When we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit prays through us, covering every detail of what needs to be prayed.  The Holy Spirit makes us powerful prayer warriors.  Tongues, given by the genius of God gets the job done.
