Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 65

March 5;        Romans 3:22;         120/260;        ‘Righteous By Faith’

Romans 3:22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;

We are made righteous with the Lord when we put our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His redemptive work on the cross for us.  We are not made righteous by keeping the Law, because verse 23 teaches that all of us have sinned.  God the Father gave Moses, as part of the Law, the Ten Commandments.  The Ten Commandments were given by the Father, not to be kept, because no one except Jesus could keep them.  The Ten Commandments were given to teach us that we were a sinner.  Why would God point that out to us?  To show us that we needed Someone to help us do what we were unable to do for ourselves.  That Someone was Jesus.  The Ten Commandments were a ‘sign post’ to clearly teach that we were unable to keep their requirements, and that we needed the help of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus kept the Ten Commandments perfectly.  He never sinned.  The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 28 that if anyone keeps the Law, they will be given many blessings.  Jesus deserved those blessings, having led a sinless life, but on the cross He did not take the blessings, He took our sins upon Himself and the punishment for our sins.  What happened to the blessings Jesus deserved?  Jesus gave them to us when we believe who He is and accept Him as our Lord and Savior.  In addition to all of the blessings we receive, given to us by Jesus, we become righteous.  That is right standing with God the Father.  Our past sins are cleansed.  We do not have to live a life of guilt and shame.  No greater love than this.
