Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024   Day 63

March 3;        Romans 1:17;         118/260;        ‘Faith to Faith’

Romans  1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

In Romans 1:16 Paul tells us that he is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for the Gospel is the power of God to salvation.  God’s Word teaches us all about Jesus, who He is and what He has done for us.  When we see what the Bible teaches, believe what it says about Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, the power of the truth contained in the Word of God brings this to pass.  Paul goes on to teach in verse 17, that the Word of God reveals the righteousness of God as well.  There are two vitally important truths to the righteousness of God that we need to know.  First, we read in God’s Word that Jesus Christ, who knew no sin, took our sins and the penalty for them upon Himself on the cross and gave us His right standing with God the Father.  Thus we come to a position of approval by God.  Righteousness literally means the ability to stand in the presence of God the Father without guilt or condemnation as if sin never existed.  Our past sins are forgiven, forgotten and cleansed.  Secondly, righteousness means God conducts Himself with integrity and correctness. Notice we understand these two aspects of righteousness as it is revealed from faith to faith.  What that means is that as we grow and mature in our walk with the Lord through the Word, our faith and understanding in righteousness grows.  We realize that we have been forgiven and never again allow the devil to condemn us for our past.  We also grow in the knowledge that God is a God of integrity and His love and kindness towards us enables us to receive His abundant blessings.  His integrity towards us, as we grow, means that we can treat others and live a life of integrity too. Living by faith.
