Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 58

February 27;        Acts 24:15;         113/260;        ‘Resurrection of the Dead’

Acts 24:15 I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.

Paul is about to share with Governor Felix.  The Jewish High Priest, elders and an orator named Tertullus came to accuse Paul.  After the religious leaders were done with their accusations, which they could not prove, the Governor gave Paul permission to speak.  Paul acknowledged that he was a Christian and believed what was written in the Law and the Prophets.  Paul then said that his hope is in God concerning the resurrection of the dead, both the just and the unjust.  He told Felix that the religious leaders believe this as well.  Once we become Christians, we have a purpose here, continuing the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus told us that we would have tribulation, but He also told us to be of good cheer because He had overcome the world.  It is an honor to suffer as we do the Lord’s work.  We do not suffer sickness or disease, but there will be persecution for our faith.  Persecution only make us stronger spiritually.  The Bible teaches that we are spirit beings and that our spirit is immortal.  Eternal life is being forever in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ after we are resurrected.  We cannot fathom the beauty of heaven or what the Lord has planned for us, the just.  Since spirits are immortal, there is an eternity for the unjust as well, those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  They will be resurrected, stand before Jesus and then be eternally separated from Him, in hell.  Hell was made for the devil and his angels, those who do not accept Jesus as Lord will be there too.
