February 13;         Acts 10:38;          99/260;         ‘How God Anointed’

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Powerful truths are taught in this verse.  God the Father anointed the Lord Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power.  Why would the Father have to anoint His Son Jesus with the Holy Spirit?  Jesus is God just as the Father and the Holy Spirit are.  The Bible teaches in the Book of Philippians, chapter 2 that the Lord Jesus stripped Himself of His deity, His divine power and came to earth as a Man.  Jesus was always God the Son when He ministered on the earth relationally, but He functioned on earth as a Man.  Why would Jesus do this?  The answer is fascinating.  Jesus did no miracles until He was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist when He was 30 years old.  When Jesus was water baptized the Holy Spirit descended and came upon Jesus, empowering Him to minister.  Jesus never taught, preached or healed until the Holy Spirit came upon Him, for the simple reason that He couldn’t.  Jesus came to do the will of His Father (John 6:38), so the will of His Father had to be that Jesus ministered as a Man anointed by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Jesus ministered as a Man anointed by the Holy Spirit so that when He returned to heaven, He would send the Holy Spirit down to His believers and empower them by the Holy Spirit to continue His ministry.   The genius of the Father revealed.  Jesus, by this power healed those oppressed by the devil.  Never believe that God would make you sick. He loves you and will use you just like Jesus.
