Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 43

February 12;         Acts 9:40;          98/260;         ‘Peter Put Them All Out’

Acts 9:40 But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

A well loved woman by the name of Tabitha lived in Joppa.  She was known for her good works and charitable deeds.  Tabitha became sick and died.  Peter was in a city near Joppa and the disciples knew this.  They sent two men to Peter to ask him to come to Joppa.  Peter did and when he got to Joppa they took him to an upper room where Tabitha’s body was.  There was great sorrow among the widows of that area and they showed Peter all of the garments she had made.  Peter went into the room where Tabitha’s body was alone, and knelt down to pray.  Peter commanded her to arise and she rose from the dead.  There is a great lesson for Christians to learn here.  In Acts 4:13, the religious leaders, arrested Peter and John for healing the crippled man.  Peter filled by the Holy Spirit spoke boldly to these leaders.  The religious leaders were amazed at their boldness, then they realized that Peter and John had been with Jesus.  Peter, James and John were Jesus’ inner circle.  They were with Jesus during His entire time of ministry.  The three of them were with Jesus on the Mt. of Transfiguration and in Gethsemane.  They learned by watching Jesus minister.  When Jesus raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead, Peter, James and John were with Him.  Jesus allowed no one else with Him due to unbelief.  Peter learned by watching the Lord minister.  to keep unbelief out when He raised Tabitha. We can learn too by doing what Jesus did.
