Matthew 7:24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

What a powerful teaching the wise and foolish builders is.  Hearing and reading the Word of God is vital.  If we merely read the Word and do nothing with what we read, we deceive ourselves.  Doing the Word of God is like building your home on a rock.  That means that the foundation of   blinds the minds of the unsaved to the gospel (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).  One of the ways the devil deceives people is by depicting in movies, plays and books, that evil has more power than good.  Is this true?  Of course not.  Notice who cried out in terror, the two demon possessed men.  Evil was terrified by good.  These demons who possess these men knew that Jesus Christ had absolute authority over them, even to the point that they somehow knew they would be tormented eternally. The Lord Jesus cast the demons out of these men and freed them from the incredible torment of the devil.  The Lord Jesus had absolute authority over the demons and the Lord gave us authority over them too.
