June 5;     Hebrews 9:24;     213/260;      ‘In The Presence of God’

Hebrews 9:24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;

Remember the tabernacle (the moveable temple of the Jews in the wilderness) and the temple itself were types of the temple in heaven.  The blood sacrifices carried out by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement and the other priests, virtually daily were a picture of what would happen once in the heavenly Holy of Holies.  The Lord was graphically showing the Jews the need for innocent blood to be shed for guilty people.  The animal blood covered the sins of the Jews.  Their blood could not cleanse the sins of the people, the blood could only cover their sins.  Our Lord, Jesus Christ did not go into the temple in Jerusalem with His blood.  After Jesus was crucified, His spirit went to hades and He suffered there so that we would not have to.  The third day, when God the Father said it was enough and the price had been paid, the Holy Spirit went down to Hades raised Jesus’ spirit and reunited His spirit with His body.  Then the Lord Jesus returned to heaven with His blood.  As we have shared before, the Lord Jesus then took His blood and went into the heavenly Holy of Holies and presented His blood once for all time.  The blood of Jesus cleansed humanity of sin.  Sin that was, is and would be committed in the future.  Two thousand years ago, before we were born, our sins had been paid for by Jesus.  Religion erroneously teaches that our sins keep us from heaven.  That is not true.  Only rejecting what the Lord Jesus did for us keeps us out of heaven.  Now the Lord Jesus, seated at the right hand of His Father, prays for us.  He is always on our side.  He wants us to be all we were created to be
